Ole Miss Men’s Basketball announced its schedule for this upcoming season on Tuesday, Sept 22. The women’s schedule followed on Thursday, Sept. 24.
The Rebels open with exhibition games against Alabama in Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday, Oct. 15, followed by UAB on Tuesday, Oct. 27 in Oxford. Their home opener will be against in-state foe Alcorn State on Nov. 2.
The Rebels will play Clemson on Nov. 23 in the Southwest Maui Invitational and will be in Maui on Nov. 23-25. They could face either BYU or Washington in the next round, and Arizona, Colorado, VCU or TCU in the following round.
After that, they will go up Interstate 81 to play Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., for the SEC/ACC Challenge on Dec. 1, followed by games against University of Louisiana-Monroe (ULM) in Southaven, Miss., NC State in Jackson, Miss. and Southern Miss in Biloxi, Miss.
Ole Miss opens SEC play against Georgia at The Sandy and John Black Pavilion on Jan. 2, and will host Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Auburn.
The Rebels will travel to Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn, Missouri, LSU, Arkansas, South Carolina, Florida and Mississippi State.
Ole Miss will play a total of three Power Four opponents and could potentially face more depending on the Southwest Maui Invitational.
The Rebels are coming off a 15-20 (4-14 SEC) season. Head coach Chris Beard and his team will have plenty of opportunities to begin a bounce-back campaign against quality opponents before the grind of SEC play begins.
The Lady Rebels will host an exhibition game against Lane College on Oct. 28 before opening the season against Alcorn State at home on Nov. 2. After that, they will play North Alabama (Nov. 5), Albany (Nov. 11) and Louisiana Tech (Nov. 15).
The women’s first real test of the year will be on the road against Ohio State on Nov. 18. The Lady Rebels will return to Oxford for another home stand against Alabama A&M (Nov. 22) and Memphis (Nov. 29). They will also host NC State on Dec. 2 for the SEC/ACC Challenge.
ULM and South Carolina State will come to Oxford on Dec. 6 and Dec. 12, respectively. The Lady Rebels will travel to Norfolk State for just their second road game, then take on Saint Louis (Dec. 20) and Temple (Dec. 21) in the West Palm Beach Classic. Finally, they will host Mississippi Valley State on Dec. 27 before beginning conference play.
Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin and her squad will look to improve upon their 8-8 SEC record last year. At home, the Lady Rebels will play Oklahoma, Alabama, Missouri, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas.
They will travel to Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn, Texas A&M, LSU, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Alabama.
