What was a concerning start to the season has turned into an encouraging turnaround for the Ole Miss softball team.
The Rebels went 5-0 over the weekend to win the Ole Miss Classic and move above .500 for the first time this season.
The five-game sweep included two five-inning wins over Jackson State, a win over Missouri State and two wins over California Baptist, including a 6-2 victory in the championship game on Sunday.
The Rebels allowed only five runs over the weekend and only came close to losing in the 1-0 win against Missouri State on Saturday afternoon when Anna Borgen completed a complete-game shutout.
Ole Miss is now 7-0 at home with a six-game win streak and a top-25 victory over No. 14 Oklahoma State.
While the competition hasn’t been very strong, the Rebels look primed to return to winning after performing well throughout the tournament.
The Rebels will stay in Oxford for a midweek matchup against Central Arkansas before opening SEC play at Missouri on Friday.
