Ole Miss Football landed at No. 4 in the AP Poll after its 32-24 win over now-No. 10 LSU. The Rebels also received three first-place votes, and their playoff chances are now at 41%. Saturday night’s win could end up being a bookmark game for the 2026 season.
Running back Kewan Lacy left early in the third quarter of the Magnolia Bowl, and the Rebel offense stalled for a while, allowing the Tigers to come back from a 17-point deficit and tie the game. However, quarterback Trinidad Chambliss came up with the game-winning score on a sneaky fake handoff.
Chambliss threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns. Ole Miss gained 426 yards to LSU’s 330.
The Week 3 win was head coach Pete Golding’s second win over a Top-10 team. He is now 5-1 as a head coach. Five of those games have been against ranked opponents. The lone loss was to No. 10 Miami, 31-27, in the Fiesta Bowl.
Last season, when the No. 13 Rebels defeated the No. 4 Tigers in the Magnolia Bowl, the two teams swapped places in the AP Poll, with Ole Miss rising to No. 4 and LSU falling to No. 13. This time, the Rebels jumped four spots, leaping No. 5 Indiana, No. 6 Miami and No. 7 Ohio State.
The SEC now has three of the top four teams in the country and 10 total teams in the Top 25.
The Rebels have the second-hardest remaining strength of schedule. They will play No. 21 Florida in the Swamp, No. 1 Texas on the road, No. 2 Georgia at home and Oklahoma on the road. Additionally, Ole Miss will host the Egg Bowl against No. 24 Mississippi State in what should be an interesting matchup.
