In “Ask A&C,” University of Mississippi students ask questions about university and Oxford life, and members of the arts and culture writing staff answer with their personal takes. This week, junior film production major Autumn Payne asks: “What’s your most anticipated film of 2024?”
Jane Dunn
Honestly, both “Beetlejuice 2” and “Kung Fu Panda 4” are tied for my most anticipated films of 2024. Tim Burton had such a huge impact on me and my art as a kid, and I loved the original “Beetlejuice” so much. I am so excited to see what they do for the second one. And “Kung Fu Panda” has always been baller.

I am looking forward to “Inside Out 2.” I loved the first one and how it so creatively displayed the realities of growing up. I am excited to see what Pixar has for the second film.
Nate Donohue
The movie I am most looking forward to in 2024 is “Despicable Me 4.” I have always loved the series, and I am excited to see the minions back in action as well as hearing Steve Carell as Gru again.
Story Lee
My most anticipated movie of 2024 is “Love Lies Bleeding.” I’m a sucker for Kristen Stewart and so excited for an unabashedly lesbian thriller. Rose Glass’ work is always engaging and stunning, so we’re in for a treat.
Raegan Settle
I am looking forward to the release of “Inside Out 2.” Its predecessor has become a modern animated classic in Disney Pixar’s collection. With the first movie in the series winning the 2016 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, I am curious whether this film will live up to its expectations. I am anticipating unparalleled goofiness, inventive animation and copious amounts of dad jokes.
Isabelle Frost
The movie I am most excited for is “Nosferatu.” This movie is a remake of one of the oldest and most iconic films of all time. The 1922 version is a silent film and also the first film adaptation of “Dracula.” I am super excited for a new version of this movie because I think it will be really scary and interesting.
Paleif Raspberry
There are so many cool films coming out this year, but if I had to pick one as my most anticipated, it would be “Dune: Part Two.” With a star-studded cast consisting of many favorites of mine, “Dune: Part Two” is going to continue a story that I have been hooked on since my freshman year of college. That movie (the first “Dune”) is a very cinematic, insane, sci-fi experience. Having to wait two years after being left on a cliffhanger was very much a struggle for me, and I am also very excited to see Zendaya get more screen time this time around.

My most anticipated movie of 2024 is Pixar’s “Inside Out 2.” The original movie came out while I was in elementary school, so being able to see Riley’s progression mirror my own will be fun and probably heartwarming. I’m expecting a few tearful scenes.
