Two Ole Miss Men’s Golf players, Collins Trolio and Davis Gochenouer, traveled to Statesboro, Ga., Feb. 3-4 for the Thomas Sharkey Individual. The Rebel players placed fourth and tied for 39th, respectively, in the 68-player competition.
Players from Liberty, Georgia Southern, Duke, Mississippi State, South Florida, Middle Tennessee State and Auburn played in the two-day, three-round competition.
Saturday
Trolio shot +3, 75 to start the morning, but bounced forward to -2, 70 in the second round, landing him in the top 20.
The second round moved well for Trolio. He shot an even par on the front nine, which led to an eagle on the par-5 11th hole. Trolio followed that with a birdie on the 15th, and his final three holes were all pars.
Gochenouer, a freshman from Dayton, Ohio, scored 78 and 76 on his first two rounds and carded four birdies on the day.
Sunday
Trolio started strong; he birdied five of his first eight holes, moving into the top 10 on the leaderboard. He dropped two strokes over the next four holes but brought himself back with birdies over two of his final four holes.
His fourth place in Georgia marked a career-best finish and a career-best 18-hole score, beating his 2024 Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational tie for 17th.
Gochenouer finished the final round with an even-par 72. He carded three birdies on the day.
His round of 72 marks a career-best 18-hole finish, beating his previous season victory at the Hamptons Intercollegiate.
The Rebels’ next contest is set for Feb. 10-12 at the Puerto Rico Classic.
