Woman shot at University Trails apartment complex

A woman is in critical condition after being shot in the head early this morning at the University Trails apartment complex, according to an Oxford Police Department press release.

OPD received a 911 call at approximately 12:22 a.m. Upon arrival on the scene, the officers were able to talk with the victim. She was transported to The Med in Memphis and is in critical condition at this time.

The victim’s boyfriend, D’Marius Madkins, 28 of Oxford, was the one who called 911. He was taken into custody at the scene of the crime, according to the press release. The weapon believed to be used was recovered at the scene.

This complex is located just off campus.

The investigation is still ongoing.
