Playlist of the week: Spring is (almost) here

Adam DunnellsbyAdam Dunnells
March 25, 2021
Reading Time: 2 mins read

Even though Mississippi weather seems to change on an hourly basis, spring actually does start this Wednesday. This spring playlist will get you in the proper mindset for the change of the season.

  1. “The First Days of Spring” – Noah and the Whale
  2. “Spring Vacation” – The Beach Boys
  3. “The Greatest” – Kenny Rogers

Even though it began in winter, Major League Baseball’s spring training is in full swing now, and every team is gearing up for the 2019 season. This country song is all about America’s favorite pastime.

  1. “Spring is Here” – Frank Sinatra
  2. “The Pop Singer’s Fear of the Pollen Count” – The Divine Comedy
  3. “Spring Haze” – Tori Amos
  4. “Spring is Here” – Ella Fitzgerald
  5. “Some Gave All” – Billy Ray Cyrus

While many people remember Easter as a spring holiday, not everyone remembers Memorial Day, a day when we celebrate and remember the men and women who served the country, which falls on May 27 this year. This song is about those brave citizens who we remember on that day.

  1. “Cherry Blossom Girl” – Air
  2. “Spring” – Saint Etienne
  3. “March Madness” – Future

MLB’s spring training isn’t the only sports event happening: March Madness kicks off today. This 2015 Future song is all about the NCAA men’s basketball finals.

  1. “Spring Affair” – Donna Summer
  2. “Spring Breakdown” – Luke Bryan
  3. “Late Winter, Early Spring (When Everybody Goes to Mexico)” – John Denver
  4. “Here Comes the Sun” – The Beatles
