2024 presidential election live updates: Who will win the White House?

Election day is here, and people across the country will head to the polls in all 50 states to cast their ballots for who they believe should be the next president of the United States. Today, The Daily Mississippian will monitor the national election and provide updates as results come in.

Current electoral college vote totals

Donald Trump: 277

Kamala Harris: 224

First round of poll closures: 6 p.m. CT

Former President Donald Trump is projected to win the state of Indiana and all of its 11 electoral votes. 

Trump is also projected to win Kentucky and all eight of its electoral votes.

Vice President Kamala Harris is projected to win Vermont, where she will gather three electoral votes. 

Second round of poll closures: 6:30 p.m. CT

Trump is projected to win the state of West Virginia and its four electoral votes.

Third round of poll closures: 7 p.m. CT

Trump is projected to win the state of Florida and all 30 of its electoral votes, Tennessee and all of its 11 electoral votes, Oklahoma and all seven of its electoral votes, Mississippi and all six of its electoral votes, Alabama and all nine of its electoral votes and South Carolina and all nine of its electoral votes

Harris is projected to win Rhode Island and all four of its electoral votes, Connecticut and all seven of its electoral votes, Massachusetts and all 11 of its electoral votes and Maryland and all 10 of its electoral votes.

Fourth round of poll closures: 7:30 p.m. CT

Trump is projected to win the state of Arkansas and all six of its electoral votes.

Harris is projected to win the state of Delaware and all three of its electoral votes and the state of Illinois and all 19 of its electoral votes.

Fifth round of poll closures: 8 p.m. CT

Trump is projected to win the state of North Dakota and all three of its electoral votes, the state of South Dakota and all three of its electoral votes, the state of Wyoming and all three of its electoral votes and the state of Louisiana and all of its 8 electoral votes.

Trump is also projected to win Nebraska’s two at-large electoral votes, all 40 of Texas’s electoral votes and all 19 of Ohio’s electoral votes.

Harris is projected to win the state of New York and all 28 of its electoral votes and Delaware and all three of its electoral votes.

Sixth round of poll closures: 9 p.m. CT

Trump is projected to win the state of Utah and all six of its electoral votes, Montana and all four of its electoral votes, Nebraska’s third congressional district to secure one electoral vote and all 10 of Missouri’s electoral votes.

Harris is projected to win the state of Colorado and all 10 of its electoral votes and D.C. and all three of its electoral votes.

Seventh round of poll closures: 10 p.m. CT

Trump is projected to win the state of Kansas and all six of its electoral votes, Iowa and all six of its electoral votes and the state of Idaho and its four electoral votes.

Harris is projected to win Maine’s first congressional district and its one electoral vote, the state of California and all 54 of its electoral votes and the state of Washington and all 12 of its electoral votes.

Eighth round of poll closures: 10:30 p.m. CT

Trump is projected to win the state of North Carolina and all 16 of its electoral votes.

Harris is expected to win the state of Oregon and its eight electoral votes.

Ninth round of poll closures: 11 p.m. CT

Harris is projected to win New Mexico and all five of its electoral votes, Virginia and all 13 of its electoral votes, Hawaii and all four of its electoral votes and Nebraska’s second district and its one electoral vote.

Tenth round of poll closures: 11:30 p.m. CT

Trump is projected to win the state of Georgia and all 16 of its electoral votes.

Eleventh round of poll closures: 12 a.m. CT

Trump is projected to win Nebraska’s first congressional district and its one electoral vote.

Harris is projected to win the state of New Hampshire and its four electoral votes.

Final results round up

Trump is projected to win Maine’s second congressional district and its one electoral vote, Pennsylvania and its 19 electoral votes and the state Wssconsin and its 10 electoral votes.

Harris is projected to win the state of Minnesota and its 10 electoral votes.

At the time of publication, votes are still being calculated for Maine’s two at-large electoral votes, Michigan, Arizona, Nevada and Alaska.
