Caleb Ball was crowned Homecoming King on the steps of the Lyceum on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Ball, running the platform “Ball for All,” was elected with 76.12% of the vote.
“It feels really amazing (to be elected). I come from a really small town and rural Mississippi, and this place has made me who I am today, and every person I’ve met here has made me feel like this place is my home. It just means the world to me, and it is such an honor,” Ball said.
No candidate for Homecoming Queen, Miss Ole Miss or Mr. Ole Miss received more than 50% of the student vote, so run-off elections will occur on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
The run-off candidates for Homecoming Queen are Abby Johnson and Nessa Bonner. The Miss Ole Miss run-off candidates are Madeline Mueller and Betsy Vise, and the Mr. Ole Miss run-off candidates are Jakota White and Santino Rocchio.
“It takes a lot of work to get to that point, and I know that it’s extremely nerve-wracking to be in a position where you have two more days of doing it all over again. We have a really outstanding group of candidates this year. They’ve all been so wonderful through this process. Just hang in there for a couple more days, and revel in the celebration on Thursday,” Associated Student Body Attorney General Alex Kipping said.
