You know what time it is. Josh and Griffin have the injury bug once again and are listed as week-to-week, so we’ve got the reserves taking snaps in the ones. Let’s get it.
No. 12 Baylor at TCU (+2.0) O/U 47.5
Mason: This rivalry game, dubbed The Revivalry, fits the bill this year. Baylor is back! The Bears are 8-0, but they’ve had close calls against Iowa State and West Virginia and an overtime thriller with Texas Tech. This one had me thinking upset until I learned that of the six quarterbacks on TCU’s roster, two have transferred, two are hurt and who are the other two? Bears take this one by two touchdowns.
Maddy: I looked it up because I want to sound slightly professional for once, and Baylor is currently undefeated, which is cool. What a flex! Unfortunately, TCU is not, having lost four of their eight games. That’s kind of sad, but it’s okay; I’m sure they’re trying their best. Baylor is going to take this one.
Caroline: Like Maddy, I looked this up. Baylor’s colors are significantly less appealing than TCU. Purple TCU all the way.
No. 18 Iowa at No. 13 Wisconsin (-9.5) O/U 38.5
Mason: Make no mistake about it: Iowa is a good football team. They just have a tough time scoring. In their two losses this year, they scored a combined 15 points. Well, they’re in luck! Wisconsin isn’t a barn burner either. They lost to a lowly Illinois team, and current-No. 1 Ohio State held them to just seven in their last outing. They might as well call this the Big 10 Bowl because it will be quintessential coma football. Run. Run. Run. I’m taking Wisconsin in this one,but spam the under.
Maddy: To be completely honest, I have no idea what’s in Iowa. I mean, Wisconsin is distinguishable for being cheese country, but what does Iowa have? As far as I can tell, nothing. Cheese country for the win.
Caroline: You kknow, I think we should give Iowa a chance. I was doing some research, and while there is absolutely nothing to do there, they should still get a chance. As an expert sports analyst who takes her job very seriously, my answer is Iowa. We’re chilling in Cedar Rapids this weekend, y’all.
No. 4 Penn State at No. 17 Minnesota (+6.5) O/U 48
Mason: The Nittany Lions have found themselves engulfed in celebrity this week since the first College Football Playoff poll has them sitting pretty at No. 4. This one is exciting. Minnesota is 8-0 for the first time since 1941. P.J. Fleck has turned that program around, and now we get to see them battle the also-undefeated Nittany Lions in the “Mouthful Mascots” rivalry. Minnesota has not played a single quality opponent, though, and I think that shows this week. Penn State covers.
Maddy: Imagine living in Minnesota. It couldn’t be me! Pennsylvania is cool because they’re the home of the chocolate capital, Hershey, along with cheesesteak sandwiches and soft pretzels. Because of that, I’m a fan. Also, the first daily newspaper was published in Philadelphia, and I say this as an unbiased third party member: heck yeah! Penn State is going to take this one, for sure.
Caroline: As someone who is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I’d like to shed some light on the ‘Pennsylvania is cool’ statement from my beloved colleague, Maddy Q. First, no. Second, she’s missing some solid staples. All my Pennslyvania friends know there’s way more that Maddy is missing (i.e. Wawa, inches of snow and sharing a border with New Jersey). Also, she doesn’t know what water ice is! For these reasons alone, Minnesota is going to win this one.
No. 2 LSU at No. 3 Alabama (-6.5) O/U 63.5
Mason: I’m a Cajun from Louisiana. I love Coach O; he’s my people. I grew up with season tickets to LSU games, and I can still remember being heartbroken when Alabama blew out the Tigers in that famous 2012 title game rematch. The Tigers haven’t won this one since 2011. I hate to say it, but you can chalk it up as nine in a row for the Tide.
Maddy: You know, I think this is going to be a tough game. On one hand, I have been raised to hate LSU since birth. On the other hand, Alabama wins all the time, and it’s getting annoying. If it were possible, I would absolutely love it for both teams to lose. But because someone has to win, I don’t think it would hurt for Bama to be knocked down a peg. Geaux Tigers (I never want to say that again)!
Caroline: I almost moved to Baton Rouge when I was in high school, and I really liked it. The live tiger on campus gave me a weird vibe, but I don’t know enough about Mike’s life to comment on it. I really don’t like Alabama, so the gross purple and yellow for the win.
Ole Miss at New Mexico State (+28.5) O/U 64
Mason: Imagine being the maniac who listed a 29-point spread for this one. Ole Miss probably wins, but I couldn’t tell you the last time they scored 29 points, much less covered a spread that large against anyone. FCS Southeastern Louisiana put 29 on the Rebels and only lost by 11, solet’s not get ahead of ourselves here. We’re going to sneak in our last win of the season before LSU comes to buy out the Vaught’s beer stock and rename the stadium after Joe Burrow.
Maddy: Alright, y’all, here’s the deal. My dad’s coming in town to watch the game, and I think it would be lit if Ole Miss won while he was here. Don’t let us down, Rebs.
Caroline: I know everything about college football, and I’ve been studying the tapes, the boards and the stats. I can tell you one thing for sure, Ole Miss is going to play New Mexico. New Mexico? They’re gonna throw the ball. Ole Miss is gonna be up two then under three. This is my final and absolutely educated decision: Rebs for the win.
