Ole Miss Baseball has moved up to No. 17 in the D1 Baseball poll after winning eight consecutive games. With a 10-8 SEC record, the team is just six conference wins away from 16, which would put the Rebels in a solid position to host an NCAA Tournament regional.
Prior to rattling off eight straight wins — six of which were SEC wins — Ole Miss was 4-7 in conference play. Now, over halfway through conference action, the Rebels’ recent hot streak has lifted them into the hosting conversation.
Their win streak began on Saturday, April 4, with a 5-2 victory over then-No. 21 Florida in game three of the series. The Rebels had gone 20 consecutive innings without scoring a run before exploding for a 5-run ninth inning to take the game and the series.
The Rebels then defeated Alcorn State at home on April 7 and swept then-No. 24 LSU on April 10-12. On April 14, the Rebels beat then-No. 22 Southern Miss, 10-3, in a neutral-site matchup in Pearl, Miss.

Last weekend, the Rebels extended their win streak to eight with two wins over Tennessee on the road. Although they lost on Sunday, April 19, this stretch showed what the team is capable of.
The Rebels have 15 games remaining. Twelve of these are SEC games; another is a neutral site matchup against Mississippi State on April 28, which does not count toward either team’s conference record.
In conference play, competition will remain stiff. The Rebels will take on No. 5 Georgia (13-5 SEC) this weekend. The Bulldogs are arguably the best team in the SEC; recently, they won two out of three games at then-No. 16 Arkansas, including a 26-14 bashing of the Razorbacks in game three.
Georgia has three opponents in common with the Rebels at this point in the season. The Bulldogs took the series against then-No. 19 Tennessee at home, swept then-No. 4 Mississippi State on the road and lost the series to unranked Florida at home.
Ole Miss will begin the month of May in Fayetteville, Ark., against the No. 24 Razorbacks. Arkansas won a home series over then-No. 3 Mississippi State, got swept by Florida at home and swept then-No. 8 Alabama, who the Rebels will face to end the regular season.
The Rebels will return to Oxford for their final home weekend series of the season against No. 7 Texas A&M. The Aggies defeated the then-No. 2 Longhorns in two games earlier this season, but the third game was cancelled. They also swept unranked LSU last weekend.
To close out the regular season, Ole Miss will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to face the No. 13 Crimson Tide. Alabama is 9-9 in SEC play. They were swept by then-No. 21 Kentucky and then-No. 22 Arkansas, swept then-No. 18 Florida and then-No. 5 Auburn and lost a series to No. 4 Texas. They also lost against then-No. 12 Southern Miss, 14-4.
The Rebels’ midweek games will not do much to bolster their regional push. Tonight, they will take on Missouri Valley Conference leader Murray State, who knocked the Rebels out of the Oxford Regional last season and later advanced to the College World Series. The Rebels will face UT Martin (19-20) on Tuesday, May 12.
In the NCAA Tournament, seeds No. 1-16 host regionals, and seeds 1-8 host Super Regionals if they advance through the regionals.
In 2025, head coach Mike Bianco and the Rebels hosted a regional as a No. 10 seed with a 16-14 conference record — so, if the Rebels can reach the 16-win threshold this season, they will likely host a regional.
Ole Miss was a few wins off hosting a super regional last year. To earn a top-8 seed, the Rebels will likely need eight or nine more SEC wins.
Thirteen SEC teams made the NCAA Tournament in 2025. D1 Baseball projected 13 SEC teams to make the tournament with their most recent projections on Tuesday, April 14, days before this past weekend’s action. Those projections had Ole Miss traveling to the Los Angeles Regional, hosted by No. 15 seed USC.
