Playlist of the week: Love songs

Adam DunnellsbyAdam Dunnells
March 25, 2021
Reading Time: 2 mins read

With Valentine’s Day on Thursday, this seems like the perfect week to make a list of love songs. However, I want this list to be a little different. While all of the songs on this list are love songs, I hope that you will have never heard at least a few of them. Maybe one of these romantic tunes will even make it into your own collection of love songs.

“Back at One” – Brian McKnight

“Back at One” is undoubtedly the most wholesome love song that I know. When it was released in 1999, this song put Brian McKnight on the map. Even if you never listen to another song by McKnight, you need to listen to this one.

“All Like Whatever” – Watsky

“All About Us” – He Is We

“When It’s Time” – Green Day

“Molly” – Lil Dicky feat. Brendon Urie

“Broken” – lovelytheband

The newest band on the list, lovelytheband has only been releasing music since this song, their first single, came out in April 2017. This song feels stylistically similar to Foster the People’s mega-hit “Pumped Up Kicks” because of its indie-pop sound.

“5 Years Time” – Noah and the Whale

“Hey Julie” – Fountains of Wayne

“And I Think You Like Me Too” – Bowling for Soup

“Trampoline” – Never Shout Never

“Better On Paper” – Huey Mack feat. Gianni & Kyle

“Fall to Pieces” – Junior

“A Girl That I Like” – Linus of Hollywood

“Sounds Like You” – Kid Quill

“17 Magazine” – Relient K

Much like the first song on the list, “17 Magazine” is a wholesome song. This is for a younger generation than McKnight’s, but it has the same sweet and innocent vibes. While Relient K hasn’t released a notable song in a couple of years, their earliest works still hold up.

“Perfect” – Ed Sheeran

“Shut Up And Kiss Me” – Marianas Trench
