
Ole Miss Men’s Golf, ranked No. 5 in the country heading into the season, opened the year with a statement performance at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate this weekend. The Rebels battled all three days and walked away in second place.
Participants in this weekend included Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU, Charlotte, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Iowa, Chattanooga, Charleston, Loyola Marymount, Virginia Tech, Augusta, Toledo, NC State and North Florida.
Day one
The Rebels opened the tournament steady and finished inside the Top Five after the first round. Freshman Daniel Tolf wasted no time in making an impression; he shot a 67 (-3) thanks to five birdies, good enough for eighth place on the day.
Junior Collins Trolio was as consistent as it gets. He carded a 69 (-1). After bogeying his opening hole, he went on a 14-par streak to finish the day.
Both fifth-year senior Cohen Trolio and senior Cameron Tankersley posted 71 (+1), while freshman Finn Meister, in his college debut, competed as an individual and shot 74 (+4).
Day two
The Rebels shot seven-under as a team to climb into a tie for third.
Cohen Trolio stole the show and matched his career best round with a 63 (-7). With five birdies in his first nine holes, he was unstoppable.
Tom Fischer added a strong 66 (-4) with five birdies, while Meister bounced back in a big way with a 67 (-3) and six birdies of his own.
Meanwhile, Tolf, Collins, Trolio and Tankersley each shot 72 (+2).
Day three
The Rebels closed the weekend as runners-up to Tennessee. Ole Miss shot a three-day total of 828 (-12) and placed four players inside the Top 15.
Cohen Trolio capped his weekend with a tie for third overall to match his career-best finish with a three-round score of 204 (-6).
Tankersley carried the low card on Sunday, posting a 66 (-4).
Tolf gave the Rebels a highlight moment with a hole-in-one on hole 16, a par 3, to finish his round three-under over the final three holes.
Tolf, Tankersley and Fischer all tied for 15th at 209 (-1).

Ole Miss Men’s Golf returns to action at the Honors Course Collegiate, hosted by UT Chattanooga on Tuesday, Sept. 15 and Wednesday, Sept. 16.
