With the Women’s Golf SEC Championships coming to a close on Sunday, April 14, the Ole Miss Women’s Golf team, led by Natacha Host Husted and Caitlyn Macnab, found themselves missing out on match play to wrap up the weekend, finishing in 11th place at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla.

The Lady Rebels traveled to compete against the 13 other SEC teams from Friday, April. 12 through Sunday, April 14, in three rounds leading up to the individual championship seeding.

The Rebels kicked off the tournament with a bang, finishing round one with a commendable score of 286 (6+). They notched an impressive 14 birdies for the day, propelling them to a tie for seventh place.

Natacha Host Husted and Caitlyn Macnab led the charge for the Rebels, each scoring four strokes on the opening day. Husted’s standout performance led her to finish day one with a 68 (-2).

Husted went into day two tied for sixth place. Macnab was only behind two strokes, with a 70 (E) and tied for 19th place. Sophie Linder completed the opening round in fourth place, where she shot 1-under.

On day two, all 14 teams in attendance shot rounds over par, including the Rebels who were unable to improve on their first round performance. They posted a round two score of 303 (+23). With the seedings set to occur in just one day, the Rebels faced a challenge to secure a spot among the top eight teams, setting the stage for an exciting final round.

Husted led the Lady Rebels with her round score of 76 (+6), which tied her for 24th place. Macnab finished strong in her final nine holes. She shot a 76 (+6) and earned a two-day score of 146 (+6), which is good for 32nd place.

Sophie Linder claimed the best round of the day for Ole Miss. She gained a score of 74 (+4) and an overall score of 147 (+7), which tied her for 38th place.

Andrea Lignell scored a 77 (+7), while Fournand hit a 78 (+8) for the day. Both players were tied for 60th place with a two-day score of 153 (+13).

The Rebels’ journey in the SEC championship concluded on Sunday, as they narrowly missed out on advancing into the match play. However, they made a remarkable last-minute surge up the leaderboard, as they shot their best round score of the championship, a 280 (E). This spirited performance saw them finish in 11th place, a mere eight strokes behind No. 8 LSU.

Macnab, Husted and Linder led Ole Miss, all finished with a 216 (+6) at the end of round three. Additionally, they all tied for 25th on the scoreboard. Linder scored a 69 (-1) for round three and tied for the best among the Ole Miss women’s golfers.

The Lady Rebels will make their next trip to their postseason game after the NCAA Selection Show on April 24, at 1 p.m. CT, which will be televised on the Golf Channel. The team will learn what NCAA Regional they will compete in on May 6-8.
