The Ole Miss Women’s Track and Field team finished in fifth place in the NCAA DI Championships on June 8, the highest in their history. They scored 38 total points, while the winner, Arkansas, scored 63.
The men’s team tied with Kentucky and Wisconsin for 20th with 14 points.
Akilah Lewis, McKenzie Long, Gabrielle Matthews and Jahniya Bowers won the first NCAA Outdoor relay(4×100) title in Ole Miss history.
Not long after that historic race, Long won the 100 meter and 200 meter races. Not only did Long win both races, she also won both preliminaries.
Toby Gillen placed seventh in the men’s 5000 meter race with a time of 13:59.
Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan placed seventh in men’s hammer with a new personal best distance of 72.81 meters. He also won the men’s shot put with a distance of 20.88 meters.
Jake Dalton placed 20th in shot put with a distance of 66.06.
Gabrielle Matthews finished seventh in the women’s 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.33. Also on the women’s side was the freshman Mensi Stiff, who placed 10th in shot put with a distance of 17.11 meters.
Jalani Davis placed third in women’s hammer with a distance of 69.86 meters. Freshman Skylar Soli reached 61.72 meters to finish in 18th in the same competition.
