The Southeastern Conference recognized starting pitcher Cade Townsend and right fielder Tristan Bissetta after their performances last week against Southern Miss and Tennessee. Townsend earned SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week honors, while Bissetta was named SEC Co-Player of the Week.
Ole Miss Baseball won three of four games last week, and these two players were large contributors. The stretch of wins was highlighted by a dominant, series-clinching victory against Tennessee on Saturday, April 18. This series win over the Volunteers was the first by the Rebels in Knoxville, Tenn., since 2016.

Townsend recorded his third-consecutive quality start and took a no-hit bid into the sixth. He allowed one hit and struck out seven on 88 pitches. Townsend has only allowed three earned runs over 18 innings of work and has struck out 21 over his last three starts. He is the first Rebel pitcher to receive this honor since Gunnar Hoglund in May 2021.
Bissetta started the year strong but entered a cold stretch from March 20-April 12, he only collected seven hits in 14 games. This slump dropped his average from a .407 to a .324 ahead of the midweek game against Southern Miss.
He came back in a big way this past week, hitting .500 with four home runs, three doubles, 10 RBIs and seven runs scored. Now, after the Rebels’ 19-2 pummelling of Murray State on Tuesday, April 21, he is up to a .353 average and is riding a streak of six games with at least one hit.
Both players look to continue their hot streaks against No. 5 Georgia at Swayze Field this weekend.
