
The Ole Miss Rebels traveled to Memphis to play the Tigers, winning 10-0.
Hayden Federico led off for the Rebels as they looked to get things going in the first inning. Mitchell Sanford got on base with two outs in the first inning and Will Furniss singled up the middle right after, advancing Sanford to third base. Judd Uttermark singled to drive in Sanford. Back-to-back walks from the Tigers put the Rebels up by two.
Gunnar Dennis got the start on the mound for the Rebels, his second time facing the Tigers. He hit the first batter he faced, but Rebel backstop Austin Fawley threw him out at second on a steal attempt.
Brayden Randle reached on a fielding error and stole second. Randle scored off a Hill single to left field, expanding Ole Miss’ lead to three. A strike out and a throw out ended the top of the inning.
Dennis got his first strike out of the game in the second, hitting a batter in the process. He was able to strike out the final batter of the side to strand a runner on base.
The Tigers walked three straight batters to open the third. A sacrifice fly brought in Furniss to make it 4-0 Rebels. Fawley grounded out to drive in the fifth run for Ole Miss.
A new pitcher for Memphis, their third of the game, came in and the first two batters got on base by a walk and a single, respectively. A sacrifice fly by Furniss scored yet another run, the Rebels sixth of the game.
Dennis was still in the game for the fourth, making this outing his longest of the season. He got out of the inning after letting two runners on base by striking out the next three batters.
Ole Miss scored three more runs in the fifth, extending their lead 9-0.
Hudson Calhoun came in for the fifth inning, ending Dennis’ day after four scoreless innings. Calhoun hit his first batter, the third Tiger hit by pitch of the game, but he was picked off at first by Fawley
The rest of the game was much of the same, with the Rebels continuing to hold the Tigers scoreless while scoring one more run. The final score was 10-0 and ended seven innings.
