The Ole Miss Lady Rebels hosted Missouri March 30-31 at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.

The Rebels came back from their loss last weekend and secured the win against Missouri, winning 2 of 3 games this past weekend.

Game three (won 1-0)

The Ole Miss Rebels had a slow but steady start to their weekend matchup with Missouri in game one of a seven-inning doubleheader. No. 21 Ole Miss softball secured a victory over No. 32 Missouri Tigers at a home game this past weekend.

Both teams were facing losing streaks, but with minimal offensive performance, it resulted in a low-scoring first game. The Rebels started with a strong defensive production, holding the Tigers to zero points on the board.

Lexie Brady set the tone for the Rebels with a single in the bottom of the second inning, allowing Ole Miss to be first on base. Scoring opportunities were limited early on, but Lair Beautae delivered the first and only point in game one with a double for the Rebels in the bottom of the third inning.

Freshman pitcher Miali Guachino and Brady led a shining Rebel defense, effectively shutting down the Tigers’ offense and securing the win for Ole Miss.

Game two (won 5-3)

Aliyah Binford took the mound this game, with the Lady Rebels securing a 5-3 victory over Missouri in a competitive seven-inning matchup.

The Tigers came out strong in game two and delivered a solid defensive effort as well as the first home run of the series, putting Missouri on the board first.

Brady continued to shine on both offense and defense, recording the first home run of the day. Brady knocked out her 11th home run of the season and her 100th career hit. The Rebels maintained their offensive rhythm, with Mackenzie Pickens hitting her first home run of the series shortly after Brady’s.

The defense and synergy of the team continued to shine for the Rebels in the second game, with multiple double plays throughout the second inning.

Persy Llamas’s home run in the sixth inning, combined with key plays and multiple runners on base, set up Ole Miss for victory securing a series win over Missouri.

Game three (lost 9-5)

Miali Guachino took the mound in Game three, seeking a series sweep.

The Tigers opened up with a powerful offense and were able to put the first point on the board, setting the tone for the rest of the night. Missouri then delivered the first grand slam of the series, putting them six points ahead in the first inning and in position to win the game.

Ole Miss diminished Mizzou’s lead with Lexie Brady and Angelina Deleon securing home runs, bringing them back in the game and leaving Missouri with only a three-point lead. Shortly after, Aliyah Binford secured a single, allowing Taylor Malvin to advance home.

The Tigers brought in two more runs in the fifth inning, expanding their lead to a 9-5 advantage. The Rebels attempted to come back but ultimately were unable to, giving Missouri the win.

Who’s next?

The Ole Miss Rebels will travel to Columbia, S.C. to play South Carolina on Friday, Apr. 4, at 5 p.m., to Sunday, Apr. 6, at 2 p.m.
