Ole Miss Softball traveled to Baton Rogue, La., for a series against LSU from Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19.
Game one
The Rebels dropped the opening game, 6-4, despite taking the lead in the top of the fifth.
LSU tallied a run in the first off a solo home run, but the Rebels responded in the second inning with a home run from Madi George. George’s homer tied the game at 1-1 and marked her 16th home run of the season.
Ole Miss scored three runs in the top of the fifth. Mackenzie Pickens’ RBI groundout and a 2-run home run from Persy Llamas gave the Rebels a 4-1 lead.
LSU rallied in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead. With two outs, the Tigers took the lead with an RBI single followed by an inside the park home run. The Tigers were up 6-4, with one more chance for Ole Miss to scratch back in the seventh, but the Rebels were unable to score.
Emilee Boyer was in the circle for the entire game and had five strikeouts. She gave up eight hits and walked 11 batters.
Game two
The Rebels put up a hard-fought game two, but ultimately lost 7-6.
Pickens struck for the Rebels in the top of the first with a home run to take the lead 1-0, but the Tigers responded with two runs off an RBI single and an error to go up 2-1 in the first inning.
Ole Miss did not let up and retook the lead in the second inning. Kennedy Bunker tied the game 2-2 with a sacrifice fly to deep center field, and Pickens returned with a 2-run double off the left field wall to put the Rebels up, 4-2.
The Tigers scratched four runs in the second, third and fourth to go up 6-4.
The Rebels battled back in the sixth inning with a leadoff single from Laylonna Applin, followed by a Rachel Connors walk. Applin advanced on a sacrifice bunt from Taylor Malvin, and Bunker’s clutch single tied the game at 6-6.
The Tigers regained the lead, 7-6, in the bottom of the sixth and Ole Miss attempted a last-chance rally in the seventh.
George began the inning with a walk and Tenly Grisham came in to pinch run. She advanced to second off a sacrifice bunt, then to third on a passed ball.
After Applin was hit by a pitch, Ryan Starr also got hit; however, the outcome was changed to a strike after the umpires ruled Starr was over the plate.
Despite having runners on base, Ole Miss was unable to convert, ending game two with the Tigers on top, 6-7.
Game three
The Rebels dropped the final game of the series 8-5. George set a new single-season home run record for Ole Miss. She topped Lexie Brady’s 2025 record of 17. George accounted for two of the Rebel’s four home runs.
George began the game with a 2-run home run, but LSU countered in the second inning to tie the game. The Tigers got the go-ahead runs off a throwing error by Bunker.

Bunker led off the fourth inning with a solo home run to make it 4-3. George and Cassie Reasner followed her lead with consecutive solo home runs to retake the lead 5-4.
LSU tied the game in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run and struck again in the sixth with an RBI triple. An error by George and an LSU home run gave the final runs of the day to the Tigers for a 8-5 win.

The Rebels will return to the Ole Miss Softball Complex on Tuesday, April 21 at 6 p.m. to host Southern Miss. SECN+ will broadcast the game.
